I may not be the most patriotic of USians, but This.Shit.Right.Here…. ugh it’s so goddamn offensive.
Disclaimers: I know quite a few people have/are currently serving in the armed forces and have always been grateful for their commitment. I am not someone who has ever seen duty in any way, so I’m not going to pretend to speak for all military personnel.
That being said, I find the use and abuse of images like this to be so bullshitty. Like, how do you sit here and make this? How do you think to yourself, “Well, damn, if I feel that in any way I shouldn’t be able to say Merry Christmas (with a BIG emphasis on the White Christ-mas), it’s like I don’t have any freedom at all!”
Yes, I’m sure that when men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan have been fighting for 10 years, leaving their families and ENTIRE LIVES here in the US just so you don’t feel like you have to say anything to your Sheik neighbor that would legitimize their religion and overshadow the ubiquity of your own. And don’t even get me started on the absolute asshattery of appropriating the voice of dead soldiers for your trivial, trite cock-waving.
Like, seriously, have some fucking common sense.
